Trav’s 2024 Week 4 NFL Picks
Week 3 is in the books and has a lot of questions that need to be answered. Week 2 was my worse week of picks seeing my record was 2-8. My Week 3 picks were an improvement, but nowhere near I’m trying to be. My record was 6-4 and my overall mark goes to 19-17. The winning percentage rises a little from 50 to 52.8%. My first loss came when the Minnesota Vikings dominated the Houston Texans. The Vikings are a surprising 3-0 and look like one of the best teams in the league. The second defeat came when I doubted my Eagles as they went to New Orleans and beat the Saints. The Eagles put on a masterclass on defense by frustrating and slowing down the best offense in the first two weeks. The third loss came when the Pittsburgh Steelers took down the Los Angeles Chargers.
This is the game that solidified Justin Fields as the starter moving forward. My fourth and final defeat came when the Washington Commanders beat Cincinnati on the road in the second Monday Night game. The Commanders showed a lot in the win and now questions are being asked in Cincinnati. There are quite a few questions regarding several quarterbacks being asked around the league? What’s up with Trevor Lawrence? Will the Steelers look into trading Russell Wilson to Miami? This week I’ll be predicting nine games. Check out Trav’s 2024 Week 4 NFL picks below.
We start things off with a battle of NFC East teams on Thursday Night Football. The Dallas Cowboys head to New York to battle the Giants. Both teams enter this game with a 1-2 record and can’t afford to drop to 1-3. The Cowboys have dropped two in a row after winning their first game. The run defense is one of the worst in the league as it their run offense. CeeDee Lamb is still trying to find his spot in the offense after missing training camp. New York won their first game of the season in Cleveland after losing their first two games. Daniel Jones looked great in that game and Malik Nabers showed why he was a top pick. The Cowboys have owned the Giants ever since Dak took over at quarterback. I’m picking Dallas to win on the road. Cowboys Win 27-23
We have a battle between two NFC South rivals as the Atlanta Falcons host the New Orleans Saints. The Saints opened the season with the hottest offense in the league by scoring 91 total points. They only scored 12 points against the Eagles in their loss at home. What team will show up in Atlanta in a critical division matchup. The Saints offensive line will need to protect Derek Carr from the great Falcons defense. Atlanta should’ve been 3-0 entering this game. On the flipside, they could’ve been 0-3 if the Eagles didn’t have those issues at the end of that game. Kirk Cousins and the offense is about middle in the pack in both passing and rushing. Will the defense slow down Kamara and the rest of the Saints offense? I’m going with Atlanta edging the Saints for their second consecutive loss. Falcons Win 20-17
We have an early season NFC North matchup for a part of first place in the first quarter of the season. The undefeated Minnesota Vikings head to Lambeau Field to meet the 2-1 Green Bay Packers. The Vikings are one of the surprising teams in the early part of the season. They enter this game with wins over Houston and San Francisco and Sam Darnold has looked great. Minnesota is top 3 in scoring offense and ranked 2nd in points allowed. Will they make it 4-0 to start the season? The big question about the Packers is the health of Jordan Love. The Packers are 2-0 with Malik Willis under center and the defense is much improved. With such a pivotal game against the Vikings, will Love make his return? I’m on the Vikings bandwagon, but Green Bay finds a way to win. Packers Win 23-21
This is a rematch from the Wild Card round of the playoffs last year. The Philadelphia Eagles will make that trip to Tampa to face the Bucs for the third time. Philly defeated Tampa in the Monday Night game, but the Bucs won in the playoffs. The Eagles are coming off a very impressive win in New Orleans. The offense is dealing with a lot of injuries. A.J. Brown, Devonta Smith, Britain Covey, Lane Johnson and Mekhi Becton are dealing with injuries. Tampa suffered their first loss of the season against the Denver Broncos. The rookie quarterback Bo Nix was able to use his arm and feet to frustrate the Bucs defense. How will this defense play against Jalen Hurts and their banged up offense? The Eagles have too many uncertainties on offense, which is why I’m picking Tampa to edge them out. Bucs Win 19-17
We have the Washington Commanders heading out west to Arizona to take on the Cardinals. The Commanders have won their last two games after dropping their season opener. They are coming off an impressive win in Cincinnati on Monday Night on the road. Jayden Daniels only had two incompletions while accounting for 3 TDs. The defense is still struggling as they rank in the bottom five by giving up over 29 points a game. Can they sustain their success? Despite being 1-2, the Arizona Cardinals play as hard as any team in the league. They have dropped two games, and they were against Detroit and Buffalo and they’re two Super Bowl contenders. Can Kyler Murray and Marvin Harrison Jr. exploit the Commanders secondary? How will the defense defend Jayden Daniels and the offense? This could be a high scoring game and I’m picking Arizona. Cardinals Win 31-27
We have an AFC West battle between the two top teams thus far. The Kansas City Chiefs will head to Los Angeles to face the Chargers. Despite not playing their best football, the Kansas City Chiefs are 3-0 entering this game. Patrick Mahomes hasn’t looked his best and the run game is coming along without Isiah Pacheco. The defense is also looking to find itself by having some younger take more responsibility. Anytime they face the Chargers it’s always a good game. Los Angeles just dropped their first game in Pittsburgh against the Steelers. Justin Herbert is still dealing with an ankle injury on the offensive side. On defense, they will be without Derwin James as he’ll be serving a one game suspension. This could be the game where Mahomes exploit the secondary and win their fourth consecutive game to start the season. Chiefs Win 27-20
We have the Sunday Night game as the Buffalo Bills head to Baltimore to face the Ravens. The Bills have arguably been the best team in the league during the first three weeks. It seems like Josh Allen is as focused as he’s ever been. The Bills offense is averaging an unprecedented 37 points, which ranks atop the league. The defense is giving up only 16 points a game this season. Can they make it four in a row in the tough Baltimore environment? Baltimore picked up their much needed first win in Dallas last week. Despite dominating them, they almost lost the game towards the end. The run game of the Ravens with Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry was great in Dallas. Was it them or the Cowboys defense? I’m going with Baltimore to hand the Bills their first loss of the game. Ravens Win 24-23
The Tennessee Titans will head to South Beach to face the Miami Dolphins. Tennessee is still looking for their first win of the season. Will Levis has one of the worse QB ratings thus far. The offense has been abysmal seeing they rank in the bottom four when it comes to passing. The run game is only averaging a little over 100 yards per game. Can they turn things around on Monday night in Miami? Miami was one of the teams in the AFC that could make a Super Bowl run. Tua got injured, they lost two in a row and now their season is in jeopardy. Skylar Thompson, the backup to Tua got injured in their game against Seattle. Both teams need a win, and this is picked by a coin toss. Miami should win this one. Dolphins Win 20-17
The second Monday Night game feels like a potential playoff matchup. The Seattle Seahawks head to Detroit to meet the Lions. Seattle is one of the few remaining teams in the league without a loss. Seattle could use a better running game, but the passing game is different. Geno Smith and the offense ranks third in the league with a little below 250 yards a game. The defense is in the top 5 for points thus far. How will both sides fare against Detroit? The Lions rebounded from their loss against Tampa with a win over Arizona. Gibbs and David Montgomery have become the best two-headed monster out of the backfield. The defense continues to trend in the right direction with Aiden Hutchinson becoming one of the best pass rushers. This should be a great game and I’m riding with Detroit to win. Lions Win 31-21
