Stephon Diggs Signs Deal with New England Patriots

Stephon Diggs signs a deal with the New England Patriots. This is a 3-year, $69 million deal that includes $26 million guaranteed. Diggs suffered a season ending ACL injury in Week 8 while with the Houston Texans. He’s on track for a return in Week 1 this upcoming season. Up to that point, Diggs ranked seventh in the NFL in catches (47) and was second on the Texans in receiving yards (496). New England was aggressive in getting a veteran receiver to pair with Drake Maye. The Patriots went after Chris Godwin, but he chose to re-sign with Tampa Bay.

Diggs joins a receiving corps with free agent signing Mack Hollins, veteran Kendrick Bourne and third-year players Kayshon Boutte and DeMario Douglas. The Texans acquired Diggs from the Buffalo Bills last year and, as part of the trade, wiped out the final three years of his contract, allowing him to become a free agent in 2025. A fifth-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2015, Diggs has 857 receptions for 10,491 yards and 71 touchdowns (70 receiving) in 10 NFL seasons. Diggs was the second big signing in the NFL yesterday. Russell Wilson signs with the New York Giants a couple hours before the Diggs news.
