5 Potential Destinations for Paul George This Summer

NBA free agency begins on June 30th at 6 p.m. There are quite a few free agents that could impact a team. Pascal Siakam is already off the board after agreeing to sign a max deal to stay in Indiana. We will concentrate on Paul George and his potential landing spot. George is one of the top free agents for 2024 and he will have a lot of options. The Clippers will look to keep him in Los Angeles seeing they’re moving to the new Inglewood arena. Kawhi Leonard signed a three-year extension with the team back in January. George could get a four-year deal worth up to $221 million from the Clippers. Paul George could opt to sign elsewhere as he’s going to be a top talent many will go after. Paul George is 34 years old and has a history of injuries. Check out 5 potential destinations for Paul George this summer.

Los Angeles Clippers

The Clippers can offer George the most money out of any team in the league. Will money be the driving force in this free agency? Being 34, this will most likely be the final big contract of his career he can sign. Paul George has signed a total of 4 NBA contracts in his career totaling over $415 million. Could the Clippers be healthy enough to make a run at a championship? They were upset by the Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs this season. Los Angeles did sign their coach Ty Lue to a long-term extension and George likes playing for him. Will Paul George resign back with the Clippers?

Philadelphia 76ers

We all saw him on ESPN with Joell Embiid and those subtle hints at them playing together. Tyrese Maxey is slowly becoming one of the best point guards in the league. Embiid was league MVP a year ago and was one a tear this year before getting injured. Tobias Harris will not be brought back to the team. Harris was needed to be the third scorer, but he didn’t live up to the billing. Paul George can still get buckets when needed and is a good defender. Will the Sixers offer him the most they can give him? There are other alternatives to George, but we will have to see.

Orlando Magic

The Orlando Magic is one of the better young teams in the NBA. After years of disappointing seasons, the Magic made the playoffs this past season. Paolo Banchero is one of the best young players in the league. Franz Wagner continues to get better also as they’re becoming the leaders of this young franchise. Orlando needs to add a veteran this offseason and they will have plenty to choose from. Klay Thompson is rumored to be on their radar and with him unfollowing the Warriors it could mean something. Thompson will have other suitors and Paul George will be a great pickup for Orlando. With the addition of George, the Magic could be a top 3 team in the Eastern Conference.

Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks are a team that could use an excellent third scorer. P.J. Washington was good at times along with Tim Hardaway Jr. Could you imagine having Paul George besides Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic? Could those three coexist in the lineup together? We all know that Paul George is still looking for that elusive championship ring. The Mavs just reached the NBA Finals, but fell to the Celtics in five games. The addition of Paul George could have Dallas in the running for the top spot in the Western Conference in 2024. Malik Monk could’ve been someone they look after, but he’s staying in Sacramento.

Miami Heat

Finally, we have the Miami Heat. Miami could easily do a sign-and-trade with the Clippers to get some capital in return. We know that the Heat are willing to do anything to get back to the NBA Finals. The big question will be about Jimmy Butler and his future with the Heat? Could the Heat go with a youth movement revolved around Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro? Or could the Heat use Herro in a trade to bring Paul George to the Heat? Who knows what Pat Riley is thinking, but we know he’s plotting to get this team in championship contention.
