Aaron Rodgers and Jets Visit 49ers Week 1 Monday Night Football
The NFL schedule will be released tomorrow and some of the schedule is already known. Kansas City will host Baltimore in the first game on Thursday from Arrowhead. On Friday night, the Philadelphia Eagles take on Green Bay in Brazil. Another huge game for Week 1 has the Dallas Cowboys heading to Cleveland to face the Browns. This is the first game Tom Brady will be an announcer. The game will also mark the return of Deshaun Watson who missed the bulk of the season after shoulder surgery. The first Monday Night Football game will have the New York Jets heading to San Francisco to face the 49ers. This will be the comeback season for Aaron Rodgers, and it will begin on Sept. 9th in San Francisco.
This marks the second straight season that Rodgers and the Jets will play a prime-time game in Week 1. His Jets debut last Sept. 11 turned into a season-altering disaster for the Jets, as the four-time MVP tore his left Achilles on the fourth snap and missed the remainder of the season. The 49ers are coming off a crushing defeat in Super Bowl LVIII, a 25-22 overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Jets are coming off a 7-10 season that was marred by quarterback instability. Rodgers has a 6-3 career mark against the 49ers. This is a homecoming of sorts for Rodgers, who grew up in Chico, California, and attended UC Berkeley. In 2005, Rodgers had thought there was a chance he’d be drafted first overall by the 49ers, but they opted for Alex Smith.
